Location

The Local Area and Things To Do

Challow Farmhouse lies at the foot of Challow Hill on the outskirts of Corfe Castle nestling in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck. Its location is ideal for access to the Jurassic coast and coastal paths and for exploring the local area; including Studland, Kimmeridge, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.

Local visitor attractions include: Monkey World, The Tank Museum, Tyneham Village, Brownsea Island, RSPB Nature Reserve at Arne, Farmer Palmer's Farm Park, Durlston Country Park, The Etches Collection Museum of Jurassic Marine Life in Kimmeridge and Lulworth Castle.

The Farmhouse, which is located next to the Purbeck Way and within three miles of the coast, offers many great walks. The centre of Corfe Castle has a number of local shops together with four local pubs, two hotels (all serving evening meals) and the choice of two tea rooms. The Castle is open throughout the year and the Swanage Steam Railway, from Corfe Castle station, provides a regular service to Swanage.

Cycling, walking, golf, horseriding, sailing, surfing, windsurfing, diving and fishing are just some of the activities available locally.

How to find us

On entering Corfe Castle we are the second turning on left if you are coming from Wareham. Take the first turning on left just before the road rises into Corfe Square (if you come on the ferry from Studland).

Once you enter Sandy Hill Lane (a tight narrow lane between cottages, slightly hidden and on a steep incline) we are the second turning on the right (the first being immediately after the railway bridge).

As the road slopes away look for our drive on the right-hand side. At the top of the drive is a carved stone saying Challow Farmhouse situated on the left-hand side of the drive and there is also a green sign on the fence.

Turn into the long drive which has a stone tiled brick at the entrance leading to our long gravel drive and directly opposite our entrance is the Challow walker’s car park. Our private drive has paddocks on either side, and you enter the car parking area via the gate (Challow Farm). We request that you keep the gate shut to deter the deer.

Please park your car facing the shrubbery boarder and hedge, furthest away and in front of the Coach House wooden porch. This would help leave ample room for four cars to park alongside one another.

The Coach House has its name on the front door.
